With more than a decade spent in dialogue with marine biologists and environmentalists, Shezad’s interdisciplinary practice connects art, science and environmental advocacy. His fascination with marine ecology and his exploration of hybrid thinking across both human and marine ecosystems aligns closely with the 2025 Theme, ’Fluid Worlds”, which invites artists to examine how boundaries shift and change, whether between cultures, ideas or elements.

During his residency, Shezad will undertake extended fieldwork at Patina Maldives, deepening his practice through direct engagement with the islands’ endangered reef systems, local coral researchers, and communities.
