What would you like to explore?
The Patina Art Residency is an annual award that celebrates emerging artists whose practice explores culture, sustainability and contemporary perspectives. Each year, one artist is chosen by an esteemed jury of art luminaries and invited to immerse themselves within a Patina destination, creating work inspired by its people, place and philosophy.
Our esteemed jury of art luminaries from across the world.

Fluid Worlds
With more than a decade spent in dialogue with marine biologists and environmentalists, Shezad’s interdisciplinary practice connects art, science and environmental advocacy. His fascination with marine ecology and his exploration of hybrid thinking across both human and marine ecosystems aligns closely with the 2025 Theme, "Fluid Worlds", which invites artists to examine how boundaries shift and change, whether between cultures, ideas or elements.
During his residency, Shezad will undertake extended fieldwork at Patina Maldives, deepening his practice through direct engagement with the islands’ endangered reef systems, local coral researchers, and communities.
